WE HAVE REACHED OUR FUNDRAISING TARGET

On Behalf of the Smile for Ryan Committee and the Coyle Family we are delighted to announce that the fundraising target has been reached.  The support over this past year has been truly overwhelming, words cannot describe how grateful we are to each & every person who has helped us along the way, we couldnt have done it with out you. It would be difficult to thank every single person as there has been so many fundraisers all over the country and beyond. No matter how little you may think you have given every bit has helped us to reach our target.

Thank you again from Ryan, the Coyle Family & the Committee.

Welcome to A Smile For Ryan

Ryan Coyle is a two year old boy from Duleek Co. Meath who loves to spend time with his family, play on his tractor, dance and play with his two best friends Monkey and Fred. Like any other two year old boy Ryan is trying to master everything from talking to toilet training and causing mischief. Aside from these common milestones Ryan has been faced with his most challenging objective, his fight against Cancer.

In January 2016 Ryan was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that most often affects children under five. Ryans treatment plan includes various forms of invasive and aggressive treatments including chemotherapy, surgery, Stem-cell transplant & radiotherapy over an eighteen month period. Since diagnosis Crumlin Hospital have driven his treatment programme forward with an intense eight sessions of chemotherapy, which has just completed. Ryan’s cancer is graded at stage 4 and unfortunately 60 – 70% of children with neuroblastoma cancer relapse after going into remission. The aim is to raise €300,000 to send Ryan to America for the only treatment currently available to prevent relapse. This is a trial treatment in America called DFMO which will take a further 18 months and will require Ryan to travel to America every 3 months for tests and treatment.

Ryan’s parents have gained unbelievable strength from the bravery and resolve of their pride and joy Ryan, although they still have a long road ahead of them. Ryan’s family are extremely grateful for the heartfelt support from family, friends and the local communities in their fundraising efforts and want to thank everyone for all their help no matter how small.
